Aklanon jins bag 8 ‘World Peace’ taekwondo medals

MANILA – Aklanon taekwondo jins harvested eight medals in the 2019 World Peace Taekwondo Festival held recently at the Shinhan University in Seoul, South Korea.

The three-man Aklanon jins captured five gold and two silver medals in the five-day tournament.

Fyll Krystyl Xylyl Oliva, who hailed from Poblacion, Kalibo, Aklan and a student of Infant Jesus Academy, spearheaded the delegation with her three gold medal haul.

Alexander Bell, a native of Cawayan, New Washington, Aklan and a student of Starglow Center for Academics and Arts, chipped in with one gold and two silver medals.

Not to be outdone was LilMayden Niverca who is from Briones, Kalibo, Aklan and a schoolmate of Bell at the Starglow Center for Academics and Arts; he chipped in one gold and one silver medal.

Overall, the Team Philippines had 25 gold, nine silver and seven bronze medals in the kyorugi event and 31-11-4 gold-silver-bronze in the poomsae event./PN
