ILOILO City – Are city policemen wearing their uniform correctly while on duty?
There will be unannounced inspections, said Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) director, Police Coronel Martin Defensor.
All Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel are required to wear prescribed and authorized uniforms with the proper insignias and other accoutrements during command activities and while in the performance of duty.
“Those caught not in the proper uniform while on duty will be held administratively liable,” said Defensor.
The unscheduled inspections are in line with the internal cleansing thrust of Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) director, Police Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan.
Defensor said the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) “Tamang Bihis” (Proper Attire) aims to make sure that all police personnel wear only the prescribe uniforms with all its authorized insignias and other accoutrements for every particular activity or occasion.
The PNP has the following uniforms:
* Type A
* Type B
* Mess Jacket
* Full Dress White (White Duck)
* Full Dress Blue (Ceremonial Blue)
* Field Service Uniform
* Patrol Uniform
* Tourist Police Uniform
* Search and Rescue Uniform
* Athletic Uniform
Defensor also warned policemen not to fall asleep in their police stations and refrain from using government equipment such as computers for personal transactions.
“I am reminding police chiefs, too, to be in their stations. Violation of PNP rules means administrative charges,” said Defensor./PN
