THE Diskwento Caravan of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) was brought to the province of Capiz on May 15 to 16.
Participated by 19 retailers, the Diskwento Caravan Capiz leg was held in Roxas City Plaza.
11 retailers sold basic commodities and school supplies at discounted prices, while the remaining eight retailers were DTI technically-assisted Micro Small and Medium Entrepreneurs (MSMEs) which exhibited various products such as canned goods, ginger tea, indigenous wines, soaps, mosquito repellants, cologne, perfume, calamansi concentrate and cinnamon bread among others.
Present during the opening ceremony was Philippine Retailers Association – Capiz chapter chairperson Engr. Reubin Yap.
In a previous report, DTI-6 Officer-in-Charge and current Iloilo Provincial Director Wilhelm Malones noted the Diskwento Caravan is conducted to help consumers carry financial burden due to increasing prices of products.
He added it also provides additional or alternative market to the MSMEs, manufacturers and producers where they can showcase and sell their products.
Meanwhile, the Diskwento Caravan was also slated in different provinces of the region.
These include one in Guimaras on May 15-31; Dalipe, San Jose, Antique on May 17-19; towns of Altavas, Kalibo and Ibajay in Aklan on May 25-27; and Negros Occidental on May 30-31./PN
