MANILA – Ateneo Lady Eagles moved closer to a finals seat in the 2019 Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference via a 25-15, 26-28, 25-16, 25-18 win over the University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses in the semifinals at the San Juan Arena.

Faith Nisperos tallied double-double 19 points and 14 excellent digs while Erika Raagas and Vanie Gandler added 16 and 15 markers, respectively.

The Lady Eagles surged to a 1-0 edge in the best-of-three Final Four series.
Setter Jaja Maraguinot also made her presence felt for the reigning UAAP women’s volleyball champions with 21 excellent sets.

Ilongga Dani Ravena had 30 excellent digs and 15 excellent receptions.


“Every day is a learning day, and you just have to acknowledge what you can do, and what you can contribute to the team. Everybody contributed and may factor rin ‘yung trust nila sa isa’t isa,” said Lady Eagles head coach Oliver Almandro.

Ejiya Laure finished with triple-double of 14 points, 14 excellent digs and 10 excellent receptions while elder sister Ennajie Laure added 11 points and 10 excellent digs for the Golden Tigresses.


Meanwhile, College of St. Benilde Lady Blazers also moved a step closer to the best-of-three titular showdown following a 26-24, 29-27, 17-25, 21-25, 15-13 win over Adamson University Lady Falcons.


Klarissa Abriam posted double-double 27 points and 16 excellent digs, while Gayle Pascual added 23 markers, on 19 attacks and three blocks, for the Lady Blazers./PN
