ILOILO City – A 20-year-old college student was arrested after he allegedly stabbed his schoolmate in Barangay PD Monfort North, Dumangas, Iloilo.
He was Jan Robert Mejica Barangay Sulangan, Dumangas, police said.
Police investigators said the incident happened around 10:28 p.m. on Friday when Mejica challenged Michael Jogn Simasu-ay, 20, to a fist fight. Simasu-ay allegedly ignored Mejica and walked away but this prompted the latter to stab the victim on the back of his body. Simasu-ay received treatment at the Dumangas District Hospital.
Police were looking into personal grudge as the motive in the stabbing.
Mejica, meanwhile, was detained in the custodial facility of the municipal police station, facing charges./PN
