MANILA – Ceres-Negros FC hopes to move closer to clinching the 2019 Philippines Football League title when it faces the Green Archers United FC tonight at the Aboitiz Pitch in Lipa, Batangas.
The matchup between the Busmen and the Green Archers is at 7 p.m. following the battle between Kaya Futbol Club-Iloilo and Stallion Laguna FC at 4 p.m.
The two-time defending League champions Busmen is still on top in the standings with 53 points, on 17 wins and two draws, and will need to win two more to clinch the crown.
This will be Ceres-Negros’ first game since 2-1 victory over Green Archers on Oct. 2 after its scheduled match with Global Makati FC on Sunday was cancelled with the latter’s nonappearance.
The Green Archers United, on the other hand, remained at the fourth spot in the standings with 32 points, on nine victories, five draws and six defeats.
Tonight’s meeting will be the fourth time Ceres-Negros and Green Archers United will meet this season. The Busmen took their first encounter via 4-3 scoreline on July 4 before a 2-0 win in their second meeting on July 21.
Kaya Iloilo, meanwhile, will try to get close to Ceres-Negros when it tangles with the dangerous Stallion Laguna. The Ilonggos are at second place in the ranking with 50 points, on 16 wins, two draws and three losses./PN
