ILOILO City – His goal was just to pass two board exams for chemical technicians and chemists.

He was thus pleasantly surprised, according to 21-year-old Jeb Reece Habulan Grabato, when he ranked No. 2 (92. 50 percent rating) in the recent licensure exam for chemical technicians and No. 9 (87.70 percent rating) in the licensure exam for chemists.

Grabato was a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry graduate, magna cum laude, of the University of the Philippines Visayas here.

“I was surprised. Wala gid ko ga-expect,” he told Panay News. “May pa-bonus pa nga topnotcher.”

He dedicated his feat to his mother Rita, his inspiration, he said.

“My achievement is hers as much as it is mine. Single mother siya, so siya na lang gid ga-provide sa amon. Gusto ko mabayluhan ang tanan nga sacrifices niya, maayo man kay wala ko siya na-disappoint,” added Grabato.

The next goal is to land a job, he said.

Damo-damo gid opportunities for chemists. Pero daw gusto ko gid maging teacher,” said Grabato who was also an honor student at Iloilo Central Elementary School and UP High School – Iloilo City.
