MANILA – Petro Gazz Angels made a
quick work of also-ran Choco Mucho Flying Titans, 25-18, 25-21, 25-18, in the
2019 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at the San Juan Arena.
Jonah Sabete fired 14 points, built on 12 attacks, while collecting 12
excellent receptions.
Jovielyn Prado supplied a triple-double outing of 12 markers, 13 excellent digs and 11 excellent receptions.
Also for the 12-4 Angels, Cherry Nunag and Stephanie Mercado contributed nine markers each.
Veteran playmaker Chie Saet dished out 13 excellent sets while Cienne Cruz tallied 14 excellent digs.
“Kung kaya durugin ‘yung kalaban, as in durugin talaga kung kaya. Masaya kami kasi nakatuntong kami dito as a team talaga. Hindi kami (nag-rely) sa isang tao lang, tulungan kami lahat,” said Sabete.
She added: “Instead na maging complacent, naging inspiration pa namin na pasok kami. Kailangan pa namin dagdagan ‘yung lakas and ‘yung pagiging consistent sa game para sa next game tuloy-tuloy pa rin,” she added.
Kat Tolentino was the lone bright spot for the Flying Titans with 20 points, anchored on 16 attacks, three kill blocks, and an ace, while also contributing 16 excellent digs for a double-double performance.
The Flying Titans, who played without Madeleine Madayag due to National team duties, finished their campaign with 6-10 slate./PN
