Ilonggo taekwondo jins shine in Thailand championships

MANILA – Ilonggo taekwondo jins showed their wares in the poomsae and kyorugi events of the 9th Tirak Taekwondo International Championships held over the weekend in Thailand.

The taekwondo jins, which were from the Iloilo MVP Taekwondo Gym of head coach Denmark Pinggol, were hailed as the overall champions in the poomsae and placed runner up in kyorugi during the one-day event.

Cyd Edryc Esmaña got gold medals in individual and mixed pair poomsae. Niesha Kariz Pequierda also had two golds in individual and mixed pair while Ma. Wilmena Popelo and Julianna Martha Uy also won golds in individual event.

Joshua Cachero won a gold in mixed pair and silver in individual. Xyrus Andrei Desierto got silver in mixed pair and bronze in individual and Angela Bermejo had a silver in mixed pair and bronze in individual poomsae.

Josh Macahilig and Sheine de Asis took a silver each. Sophia Grace Go and Clyde Anthony Chua got two bronzes each while Elisha Meila Paradero, Roivic John Decafe, Neljane Wentworth Belgira and Conrad Joseph Pido had a bronze medal each.

Bermejo, meanwhile, notched two golds in kyorugi. Decafe and De Asis also had a gold each. Pido, Belgira and Paradero had a gold and silver medal each.

Capturing silver medals were Uy, Cachero, and Go, while Macahilig and Desierto had bronze medal each./PN
