MANILA – Ceres-Negros FC will test the mettle of the Philippine U-22 men’s football team in the Philippines Football League – Copa Paulino Alcantara Season 2 today at the Biñan Football Stadium in Laguna.
The match is slated at 4 p.m.
The Busmen will shoot for its first victory while the Southeast Asian Games-bound booters eyes its second straight triumph.
The Busmen settled for a 2-2 draw with Mendiola FC 1991 on Saturday as the two first half goals by Robert Lopez Mendy were negated in the second half by Mendiola’s Hamed Hajimahdi and Robert Corsame.
It remains to be seen, however, if Ceres-Negros head coach Risto Vidakovic will once again rely on his second unit players, as he did against Mendiola.
“We have many players that didn’t play in the league so I want to give them the chance to prove themselves in the Cup,” said Vidakovic “Just to see how the team is working without the regulars.”
The Philippine U-22, on the other hand, is fresh from a 1-0 victory over the Green Archers United FC on Sunday, behind the conversion of Chima Uzoka./PN
