CABATUAN – Centerphil Montessori Silver Knights-Janiuay extended its reign in the 3rd Iloilo Congressional District Association Meet 2019 secondary basketball to nine straight years by ruling this year’s edition of the tournament.
The Silver Knights captured the high
school boys title via a 96-79 domination of Pototan in the gold medal match on
Thursday afternoon at the Cabatuan Gymnasium.
Lester Valn Paraico was defended well since the start but still managed to
finish with 20 points.
Justin Penar and Jhon Deo Sajonia
chipped in 15 markers apiece for CenterPhil.
Also contributing double figures on offense were Jay Loquiano and Jay Capeñanes
with 14 markers apiece.
With the win, the Silver Knights advanced to the Iloilo Integrated (Iloilo School Sports Council) Meet for a chance to move to the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association Meet.
“We are fortunate that other players have stepped up because Lester was defended well,” said CenterPhil owner Mark Palabrica. “We will now prepare for the ISSC Meet since we were runner ups for five years there.”
In the elimination round, the Silver
Knights defeated Calinog (128-103) and Maasin (108-44).
In the semifinals round, the Janiuay
representatives ousted the team from Bingawan./PN
