MANILA – The Department of Justice (DOJ) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) have been asked to provide the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee a copy of whistleblower Benhur Luy’s digital files.

The files allegedly contain, among others, the names of individuals who asked for kickbacks from suspected pork barrel scam mastermind Janet Lim Napoles, Special Allotment Release Orders for more than 100 lawmakers and more than 20 foundations controlled by Napoles.

In a letter address to Justice Secretary Leila de Lima and NBI’s Director Virgilio Mendez, Sen. Teofisto “TG” Guingona III, Blue Ribbon chair, said “Luy’s hard drive” should be submitted to them.

The government agencies should be able to submit the files “on or before Wednesday, May 28, 2014,” Guingona added.

Meanwhile, the camp of Luy failed to submit to the committee the requested soft copy of their client’s digital records on Wednesday.

But they sent their files to NBI’s Cybercrime Division “for forensic examination and authentication to preserve the integrity and confidentiality of its contents.”

Sen. Sergio Osmeña, vice chairman of the Blue Ribbon committee, believes the information in Luy’s files is “bigger,” “more complete” and “more accurate.”

“Those are a lot of files if you are going back to the year 2000. I am of the belief that Benhur Luy was already copying this from the beginning to his hard disk drive,” said Osmeña./PN
