BEFORE she was chosen to play the Pinoy comics icon Darna, actress Jane de Leon has had her fair share of rejections while auditioning for different roles and projects.
“Naranasan ko po lahat. Pumipila ako sa mahahabang linya for VTR for commercials. Pinakamatagal mga eight to 10 hours,” she said on “Tonight With Boy Abunda” on Monday.
“Hindi po sa akin fit ‘yung role, hindi ka pa magaling umarte, hindi ka maganda. Kaya tiningnan ko sarili ko sa salamin, ‘hindi ba?’” de Leon recalled.
De Leon said she’s just lucky to have her mother, whom she described as her source of strength whenever she’s down.
“Kahit nada-down ako nandiyan ang Mom ko para i-encourage ako,” she said.
Despite the rejections and the long wait, de Leon stressed she never stop chasing her dreams.
“Na-feel ko po ‘yung ‘kakayanin ko pa ba ito?’ May opportunity pa ba na mangyayari sa akin? Nainip din po ako pero siyempre hindi ako tumigil roon at lalo pa akong lumaban. Lahat po gagawin ko para sa family ko,” she said. (ABS-CBN)
