P25-M swimming pool to boost UA’s maritime courses

SAN JOSE, Antique – The government-owned University of Antique (UA) will soon have an Olympic-size swimming pool with a P25-million support from the provincial government.

UA president Pablo Crespo Jr. on Tuesday said they were grateful to have a swimming pool inside the UA main campus in Sibalom, Antique.

“Our students without the swimming pool still have to go to the Binirayan swimming pool in this capital town for their swimming classes,” Crespo added.

“Students undergoing training for their swimming competitions could also use the swimming pool,” he said.

The facility will be most useful to students taking up Bachelor of Science (BS) in Maritime Engineering and BS in Marine Transportion.

Currently, the UA is the only state university that offers the two courses.

“We have already submitted the program of work to the provincial engineering office for implementation,” said Crespo.(With a report from PNA/PN)
