MANGGAHAN FESTIVAL of the Province of Guimaras is set to wow the land of the rising sun.
The world renown festival will showcase their vibrant mango-inspired costume and street dancing performances at Yoyogi Park in Tokyo, Japan for the “Philippine Festival 2019: Pasko ng Bayan” on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1.
Twenty performers of Hubon Guimarasnon sang Manggahan Festival will display the island’s culture and tradition during the grand parade and cultural presentation of the said festival.
Officials of the Provincial Government of Guimaras will also participate in an investment forum with Japanese investors.
Meanwhile, the Guimaras tourism booth in Japan will exhibit the things to love about the island.
This milestone was materialized through the partnership of the Province of Guimaras and the Philippine Festival Organizing Committee (PFOC) in Japan.
The exposition of Manggahan Festival in Japan is the second in the province’s thrust of bringing Guimaras to the world dubbed as “Manggahan Festival to the World Series.”
In June 2018, Hubon Guimarasnon made extra special the celebration of the 120th Philippine Independence Day Commemoration in New York City.
The Hubon also performed in Washington D.C., Pennyslvania and New Jersey in United States of America.
Manggahan Festival is the signature festival of Guimaras celebrated province-wide annually from May 11-22.
The festivities are a celebration of the province’s mango industry, showcasing the culture, livelihood and products of the Guimarasnons.
Manggahan Festival has bested other cultural performances regionally and nationally for the past years.
Manggahan achieved the three-peat glory when it was hailed champion in the Kasadyahan Regional Cultural Competition in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
The festival bagged the first runner-up award in 2017 and 2018 while in 2019 it was declared second runner-up in the Aliwan Fiesta, the gathering of all festivals in the country./PN
