ILOILO City – More Electric and Power Corp. (MORE Power) donated three computers and two printers to the city government.

MORE Power president Roel Castro led the turnover yesterday. Mayor Jerry Treñas received the items.

“This is a simple gesture. More Power supports city the government,” said Castro.

MORE Power has a 25-year power distribution franchise here.

“While inching our way into Iloilo City, we will be actively supporting the city government.  There will be collaboration between the local government and the company. Both of us are into public service,” said Castro.

The donations were part of MORE Power’s corporate social responsibility, he added.

Castro said MORE Power is set to take over the power distribution here soon.

Mayor Treñas welcomed the donations. He said the two computers and printers would be used by the Office of the Building Official (OBO), and the other computer would be forwarded to the City Engineering’s Office.

“We want to digitize the OBO’s operation and separate it from the City Engineer’s Office,” said Treñas.

“Iloilo City is booming, we have to be prepared. We want to make sure the office is ready. We have already started hiring encoders and training them. With the digitization of the OBO, it will be easy for businessmen to transact with it,” said Treñas./PN
