MANILA – Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings cruised to a wire-to-wire 113-88 victory over NorthPort Batang Pier in Game 2 of the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup semifinals last night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Stanley Pringle drained five three-point baskets to finish with 23 points while LA Tenorio contributed 20 markers.
With the win, the Kings knotted the best-of-five series at 1-1.
Gregory Slaughter chipped in 16 markers. Justin Brownlee had 15 points, while Earl Scottie Thompson and Negrense Jeffrei Chan had 13 and 12 markers, respectively.
From a seesaw exchange at the onset of the first period, the Kings suddenly created distance from the Batang Pier behind Slaughter, Tenorio and Brownlee for a 31-18 edge.
The Kings’ rampage went on in the second period with Chan, Slaughter, Tenorio, and Brownlee making their shots to widen the advantage to 62-44 after two quarters.
Ginebra pulled away for good in the second half with three-point conversions from Tenorio, Thompson and Pringle. The lead reached its largest at 33 points.
For the Batang Pier, Michael Qualls finished with 20 points while Sean Anthony and Christian Standhardinger chipped in 19 and 10 markers, respectively./PN
