MANILA – Negrense boxer Genesis Servania pulled off a huge unanimous decision victory over former world champion Pungluang Sor Singyu of Thailand at Sangyo Hall in Kanazawa, Japan.
It was the second consecutive victory of the Bacolod City, Negros Occidental native after scoring a stoppage win over Indonesian Ahmad Lahizab last August in Japan.
Servania dictated the tempo of the match early as he pummeled Sor Singyu with combination hits. The Thai tried his best to keep in step but the Negrense slugger was just overpowering as he come out with a decision win.
“I am still slowly regaining my form. Sa ngayon medyo kulang pa but I am hoping na makabalik tayo sa title fights by next year,” Servania said.
With the victory, the 28-year-old Servania has improved his boxing record to 34-2-0 win-loss-draw. Also, 16 of his victories came by way of stoppages.
The 30-year-old Sor Singyu dropped his record to 53-7-0, including 35 knockout wins. This was also his second consecutive loss after bowing to Filipino Mark Magsayo earlier this year./PN
