MAYNILAD, the private water concessionaire for the West Zone of Greater Manila Area, and Metro Iloilo Bulk (MIB) Water held a joint water education drive for the students of Western Visayas Sanitarium Integrated School at Sta. Barbara, Iloilo on Dec. 3, 2019.
Dubbed as “Daloy Dunong,” the initiative aims to increase the appreciation of youth about the value of water through fun activities that promote its link to health and environmental conservation. Among these activities are a puppet show, a musical performance and mini-lectures about proper handwashing and responsible water use.
The organizers also encouraged the students to pursue a career in the water industry by sharing about different professions that contribute to ensuring water sustainability for Filipinos.
School principal, Lilibeth P. Gregorio, expressed her gratitude to Maynilad and MIB for the effort, underscoring the timeliness of the effort as water scarcity slowly become a worldwide crisis.
Teachers and parents also joined around 200 students in the learning sessions. Maynilad and MIB also closed the program by giving away water education materials and hygiene kits./PN
