8,000,000th tourist for 2019 arrives at NAIA

THE Philippines’ 8,000,000th international visitor for 2019 arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 on Friday afternoon, the Philippine News Agency announced on Friday.

Japanese national Yachiyo Imamoto and her husband arrived at the airport and were welcomed by Department of Tourism (DOT) officials.

The DOT presented Imamoto with a roundtrip ticket from Japan to Manila, as well a tour to Siargao.

The number of visitors to the country increased by 14.37 percent, from 5,387,458 visitors to 6,161,503 visitors, from January to September 2019.

Japan took the fourth spot in the top 10 list of countries with the most number of visitors to the Philippines, with a total of 518,211 arrivals for the nine-month period.

Korea placed first with 1,450,792 arrivals. This was followed by China with 1,359,817, and then the US with 792,618 visitors. (GMA News)
