BACOLOD City – Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts cruised to a winning start in the Bacolod City leg of the NBTC Basketball on Saturday at the Bacolod Bays Center here.
The Thunderbolts leaned on all-around effort of its players on offense and defense as it defeated the Negros Occidental High School in lopsided fashion, 115-45.
“I commended all the players because they did their roles on offense and defense,” said Thunderbolts head coach Ronald “Yong” Despi. “Hopefully magtuloy-tuloy because madami pang games ahead of us.”
Just like the Thunderbolts, Escalante National High School also cruised to a lopsided 99-76 victory over the Maranatha Christian College.
In other results, Colegio de Sta. Ana de Victorias also had a winning start in the qualifier. They defeated Sum-ag National High School, 84-75, while Living Stones International School edged Colegio de San Agustin-Bacolod, 84-76.
This tournament will run until Jan. 19, 2020 wherein the champion will face the winners of the Silay City and San Carlos City legs.
The winner of this local qualifiers will advance to the Regional Championships in Iloilo later this month./PN
