Asialink, CPU force do-or-die matches

GUIMARAS – Asialink/E&C Trucking and Central Philippine University Golden Lions pulled off contrasting victories in the Mayor Eugene Reyes Invitational Cup on Sunday at the Buenavista Covered Gym.

Asialink kept their championship hopes alive following a 92-89 upset over Western Institute of Technology-ILOPRISAA.

Ralph Bajon, Ryan Calamaan, John Bryan Sajonia and Ronrei Tolentino took turns on the Asialink’s offense from start to finish as they stunned the heavily favored PRISAA squad.

On the other hand, the Golden Lions also barged to victory after a close game with P. Doce SBC-Iloilo Doctors College, 88-84.

The return of Jesse Sullano, Miguel Sasuman and Wilmer Dalumpines aided the Golden Lions’ cause as they tarnished the erstwhile unblemished record of their opponent.

The victories of the Asialink/E&C Trucking and the Golden Lions forced the four teams in the pocket tournament to have an identical 1-1 win-loss record, turning the Monday night matches to a must-win for all.

The battle-for-third place and the championship match are scheduled this afternoon, hosted by the Local Government Unit of Buenavista./PN
