ILOILO City – A total of 161 personnel from the headquarters of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) underwent random drug testing in line with the directive of Philippine National Police officer-in-charge Lieutenant General Archie Francisco Gamboa for an intensified internal cleansing.
The drug testing was conducted after the flag-raising ceremony on Jan. 13.
The 161 personnel were randomly selected from various divisions of the PRO-6.
There were simultaneously drug tests, too, in various provincial and city police offices region-wide for a target of 25 percent of the total population of the PRO-6 this first quarter of 2020.
More unannounced drug tests will be conducted, to be administered by the Regional Crime Laboratory Office, said Police Lieutenant Colonel Joem Malong, regional public information officer of the PRO-6.
Personnel found positive for illegal substances will be dismissed from the service for conduct unbecoming, she added.
Brigadier General Rene P Pamuspusan, regional police director, announced to all provincial and city directors during the command conference on Jan. 10 that internal cleansing remained one of his priorities./PN
