BACOLOD City – Business permit applicants here will have more time to process their requirements as the Business One-Stop Shop (BOSS) was extended.
The city council recently approved on third and final reading an ordinance extending BOSS operations at the Bacolod City Government Center starting until Feb. 29.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia earlier requested the city council to extend BOSS, citing a letter from the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
He said that this will give businessmen ample time to comply with all the required documents and surcharges of 25 percent will not be imposed on them.
For his part, Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran said After February 29, there will be no more extension. The Licensing and Permits Division, together with the enforcement team, will be inspecting all business establishments in Bacolod to ensure that they have secured business permits, he said.
“The extension will, in effect, exempt businesses that failed to secure business permits, from payment of penalties and surcharges,” the Vice Mayor added.
But Familiaran clarified that the applicants can no longer avail themselves of a 10-percent discount, unlike in the period from Jan. 2 to 20 that there was as privilege to the early applicants./PN
