ILOILO City – Eighteen elementary and secondary schools from this city and province of Iloilo are competing in today’s “Tambor, Trumpa, Martsa, Musika” contest, one of the features of the yearly Dinagyang Festival.
Thirteen schools are seeing action in the elementary school category and five in the secondary school category.
One of the innovations in this year’s competition is the use of risers (maximum of one meter in height and width), according to Freddie Gallardo of the Department of Education – Division of Iloilo City who is in-charge of the “Tambor, Trumpa, Martsa, Musika.”
Last year, the use of additional instruments like trumpet to blend the music was among the innovations.
The competition will start at 7:30 p.m. at the Iloilo Freedom Grandstand on Muelle Loney Street.
Each contingent has a maximum of seven minutes to perform.
Of the 13 schools in competing in the elementary category, four are from Iloilo province.
In the secondary school category, three out of five contestants are from Iloilo province.
“Every year gina-change naton ang guidelines para mapanami pa gid,” said Gallardo./PN
