ILOILO City – The Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) has tapped students, teachers, civil society and other stakeholders of the province of Guimaras on its roadshow and transparency caravan.
The 2020 PCOO Transparency caravan, which aims to engage participants on the various activities of the government, will be held at the Guimaras State College in Buenavista town on Feb.12 and 13.
Philippine Information Agency VI Officer in Charge Jemin Guillermo said that around 500 students, teachers and other members of the academic field are expected to join the caravan aimed at enlightening participants on the current programs of the administration to attain transparency and accountability in the government.
“This is an opportunity for Guimarasnons to get first-hand information on the initiatives, programs and services of the government and how they can participate in or avail of these programs and services,” she said.
Key officials from the PCOO and other invited resource persons will discuss in the caravan topics such as the use of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Program as a tool for academic research; government procurement process through the Government Procurement Policy Board; Project Digital Imaging for Monitoring and Evaluation; and Development LIVE Application that allows users to view government projects nearby using built-in map and using an interface project list.
Guillermo said some 300 representatives from the national and local governments, civil society and the media were also invited to the Multi-Sectoral Roadshow that to talk about press freedom, FOI program, Rehabinasyon (rehabilitating the nation), Youth for Truth and the Presidential Task Force on Media Security.
The next leg of the roadshow and transparency caravan in the region will be held in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental on April 28 and 29.(With a report from PIA/PN)
