MANILA – The University of Perpetual Help System Lady Altas survived the tough stand of the Emilio Aguinaldo College Lady Generals by pulling off a 20-25, 25-17, 25-21, 25-17 victory in the Season 95 of the NCAA Women’s Volleyball at the San Juan Arena on Feb 10.
Jhona Rosal spearheaded the Lady Atlas’ triumph with 17 points built on 15 attacks and two aces, while Bianca Tripoli contributed 11 points spiked by three each of blocks and aces to improve the team’s win-loss record to 6-2.
Dana Persa and Jenny Gaviola also made their fair share of contribution. The former finished with 11 markers, 12 digs and six receptions, and the latter delivered in the outing 10 points and 14 excellent sets.
Although
victorious, Lady Atlas head coach Macky Cariño was not impressed with his
player’s slow start. He hopes that the squad will address the issue since the
playoffs series coming just around the corner.
“Sobrang bagal mag start talaga, sobra. Sobrang relax kasi,” Cariño said. “Buti
nalang after nang first set, nagusap-usap
kami, nagbago ako ng pwesto tapos
recover sa ginawa and then maganda ‘yung performance noong last three sets.”
Cathrine Almazan finished with 16 points, 14 excellent digs and six excellent receptions, while Krizzia Reyes also had 16 markers for the Lady Generals that slipped to a 1-7 record.
Meanwhile, the Jose Rizal University Lady Bombers pulled off a 25-17, 18-25, 25-21, 25-13 win over Letran Lady Knights. The both teams are now tied with a 3-5 win-loss record./PN
