Antique police emphasize role in COVID-19 outbreak

SAN JOSE, Antique – The police forces of this province are closely coordinating with the Provincial Health Office (PHO) in response to the pressing issue of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)in the country.

Antique Provincial Police Office Deputy Director for Operations Lieutenant Colonel Norby Escobar said during a recent conference that cops were tasked to assist the Department of Health (DOH) in the conduct of COVID contact tracing.

“Our role, as directed by the regional office, is to assist the Department of Health in the conduct of contact tracing and transfer of nCoV (COVID-19) patient,” Escobar emphasized.

Escobar added that police personnel will maintain to carry out thorough checkpoint operations among vehicles passing through the various towns of this province.

Meanwhile, PHO Health Education and Promotion Officer Irene Duldoco urged the public to always practice proper hand washing, cough etiquette and to seek early health consultation if symptoms of coronavirus such fever, cough, sneezing and difficulty in breathing would show.

“Stay healthy all the time and stay hydrated to prevent the spread of the disease among us,” Duldoco said.

She also encouraged the Antiqueños to stay indoors especially when they are sick, and avoid visiting crowded places for a period of time.(With a report from PIA/PN)
