ILOILO – At least 20 non-contact infrared thermometers will be purchased by the Provincial Health Office.
These would be used to check the temperature of people arriving via the province’s various seaports in a bid to keep Iloilo free from the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The COVID-2019 infection starts with a fever.
Arriving ship passengers who have fever, cough, or colds; with history of travel to China, Macau and Hong Kong; and with history of exposure would be considered persons under investigation (PUIs), said Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr.
It was suggested that PHO health workers will be deployed to operate the thermometers.
PHO is now looking for suppliers.
The temperature checks would be implemented together with the Philippine Coast Guard and the Maritime Industry Authority.
The provincial government recently ordered that ship passengers entering Iloilo must accomplish the so-called health declaration cards.
The health declaration card is a tool to track the travel history of passengers. The provincial government hired eight personnel to distribute and collect them from people arriving at seaports.
Two were posted at the Estancia port while six were assigned to the Dumangas port./PN
