ILOILO City – The official census count of the country’s population and housing will kick off May 4, 2020, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
Pursuant to Batas Pambansa Blg. 72, PSA was tasked to conduct the national population census every ten years since 1980.
PSA-Iloilo statistical specialist II Dominador Cabrera said teachers in public schools were tap to be the enumerators for the upcoming 2020 Census of Population and Housing (2020 CPH) as mandated also by BP 72.
“This is why the census has to be conducted during summer vacation when public school teachers do not have classes,” said Cabrera.
The 2020 CPH, according to Cabrera, is the 15th census of population and the 7th census of housing to be conducted in the country since the first census in 1903.
All persons, including those alive as of 12:01 A.M. of May 1, 2020, will be enumerated and counted during the CPH which involves the entire process of collecting, compiling, evaluating, analyzing, publishing and disseminating data about the population and living quarters in the country.
