MANILA – F2 Logistics Cargo Movers made a quick work out of the PLDT Home Fibr Power Hitters, 25-21, 25-15, 25-13, in the 2020 Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix at the Bacoor Strike Gym in Cavite on March 2.
American import Lindsay Stalzer tallied 19 attacks, a block and two service aces for 22 points for the winning team in the match that took only 68 minutes to finish.
Filipina-Hawaiian Kalei Mau and Mary Joy Baron were also impressive as they delivered for combined 24 points for the Cargo Movers, which are looking to win the Grand Prix tiara after falling short the past two years.
As impressive as the victory against the lowly Power Hitters, Cargo Movers head coach Ramil de Jesus still saw some negative points on his ward’s performance.
“Actually, during the first set, I saw that they were too tight, committing two or three consecutive errors, especially on the defensive end,” De Jesus said. “So, I said to myself that they’re not yet their usual self, but luckily they were able to pick themselves up and loosen up a bit.”
French import Maeva Orle finished with 19 points for the Power Hitters team that suffered its second consecutive fall in as many matches.
In the other match, Chery Tiggo Crossovers needed every bit of Tatjana Bokan’s offensive outburst to weather the gutsy Marinerang Pilipina Lady Skippers, 25-20, 27-29, 25-21, 25-21.
The Montenegrin import erupted for 33 points built on 27 attacks and five aces, while Mylene Paat scattered 12 attacks, three aces, and two blocks to wind up with 17 markers for the winning team./PN
