ILOILO City – One hundred twenty personnel of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) were subjected to random drug testing yesterday during a conference.

Police Colonel Eric Dampal, city police director, led the drug testing, the third for ICPO personnel this year.

The first test was conducted in January with around 90 subjects. The second was last month with 30 police officers. In these two tests, all the subjects tested negative for illegal drugs.

Through random, unannounced tests, Dampal hoped to keep the ICPO drug-free.

“We are serious in our campaign against illegal drugs hindi lang sa operations but also through the cleansing of our ranks,” said Dampal.

Yesterday’s drug test was performed by the Police Regional Office 6 crime laboratory headed by Police Lieutenant Colonel Ace Baldevieso, a forensic chemist.

Police officers flunking the drug tests face administrative charges and could be removed from the service.

“So I warned my men not to engage in illegal drugs,” said Dampal./PN
