Capiz tightens entry quarantine policy

ROXAS City – The provincial government of Capiz ramped up strict quarantine measures for persons entering the province to curb the spread of corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Gov. Esteban Evan Contreras recently issued Executive Order No. 11, series of 2020, which enforces stricter quarantine procedures for individuals entering the province and restricting their entry.

Those will be exempted include government officials and employees travelling in the performance of their functions, medical personnel and health as well as humanitarian workers performing duties in relation to COVID- 19 and patients availing chemotherapy and hemodialysis. It also exempts residents of Capiz traveling from and into the province.

Persons travelling into the province on common carriers or transport for the conduct of trade, delivery of social or humanitarian services, marine activities, scientific or academic pursuit, and such other essential purposes, other than the carriage of passengers, shall be dealt with in accordance to Republic Act 11332.

“Entry of goods classified as essential and medical supplies are allowed, subject to protocols and regulations already in place,” Contreras said.

Persons who enter the province in violation of the restrictions shall be put under a 14-day mandatory quarantine.

There will be no restriction for residents who intend to travel outside of Capiz, however, they must also consider the rules and regulations of their destinations.

The province’s police personnel will conduct a 24/7 checkpoint to all land entries of Capiz in order to ensure that only those allowed may enter the province.

Local government units of Tapaz, Jamindan, Dumarao, Sapi-an, and Pilar are mandated to assist policemen in the conduct of mandatory thermal scan and other procedures travellers need to enter the province.

The Philippine Coast Guard and the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group are also directed to conduct the same precautionary measures in ports and airports. (With a report from PIA/PN)
