Bacolod City – Police arrested a person under monitoring (PUM) in his residence in Barangay Bata.
Felix Alejo – PUM who escaped mandatory quarantine in Mambukal Resort in Murcia, Negros Occidental – was arrested by a tracker team led by Colonel Romeo Baleros, director Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, around 10 p.m. on March 19, a police report showed.
Alejo was one of the 84 residents of
Negros Occidental who arrived at the Bacolod-Silay Airport from the Clark
International Airport earlier that day.
“He (Alejo) said that he thought those who (are required to undergo quarantine)
are people coming from Metro Manila while he came from Pampanga,” Baleros said yesterday.
However, the provincial government also considered the 84 passengers who traveled from Clark as persons under monitoring (PUMs) and required them to undergo quarantine after arriving in the province.
According to police investigators, the PUMs arrived to the resort where they are going to stay for two weeks after arriving in this province. Two hours later, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz – the one that facilitated the transport of the group – informed Baleros that one of the PUMs already left.
Baleros then posted on his Facebook account a call for assistance in search for Alejo, whose family name was initially reported as Alejano, based on the information given to the police.
Alejo will face charges for disobedience to person in authority and violation of Republic Act 11332, or the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern act.
“I thank the netizens of Bacolod for their help. We’re able to promptly arrest Felix Alejo and he’s now back in the resort for mandatory quarantine. Together, we can find the solution to end COVID-19,” Baleros said.(With a report from PNA/PN)
