Manila – Even the Beach Volleyball Republic (BVR) tournament was not safe from the coronavirus disease 2019 outbreak after it saw its upcoming legs pushed to later dates.
In a media statement, the BVR said that it is postponing its Puerto Galera leg, which was supposed to be held from March 27 to 28, and the Dumaguete City stage, which was slated on April 4 and 5.
“The BVR has the paramount duty and responsibility to ensure the safety and well-being of its fans, players, officials, and crew,” they said in a statement. “For updates regarding the future legs, please follow BVR’s social media accounts.”
The cancelled Puerto Galera and Dumaguete City parts were supposed to be the first two legs of its 2020 season.
Puerto Galera has implemented its “community quarantine” since last week. Dumaguete City, on the other hand, prohibited all forms of public gatherings and events within its vicinity until further notice./PN
