SAN JOSE, Antique – The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for coronavirus disease 2019 has requested churches in Antique to ring their bells at exactly 8 p.m. They will signal the start of the province’s curfew.
According to Antique Police Provincial Office director Colonel Parena, chair of the IATF, the churches were requested to help inform the residents of Antique to stay inside their houses once the curfew starts.
“Church bells will ring and also the police sirens,” he said.
Antique’s 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew was implemented on March 17 following Executive Order No. 35, series of 2020 issued by Gov. Rhodora Cadiao on March 16. The police have been going around their respective municipalities with the assistance of their village watchmen.
“So far the people in the province cooperated well,” Parena added.
The curfew, which is estimated to run until April 1, exempts government officials and employees performing official functions; government and private medical personnel or health workers; persons authorized to engage in business, commerce or industry; and suppliers or sellers of food items, medicines, and other necessities like hardware and construction materials.
Sugar migrants or locally known as sacadas, call center agents and media personnel are also exempted from the curfew.(With a report from PNA/PN)
