BACOLOD CITY – The Bankers’ Club of Negros Occidental has implemented shortened banking hours starting Monday as a precaution against the coronavirus pandemic.
The adjusted policies are stated in the organization’s Board Resolution No. 2020-002.
“We find this meritorious and reasonable. We are going to approve this. Let this serve as a notice to the public, especially those who are dealing with the banks. We are going to implement this,” City Mayor Evelio Leonardia told journalists in a press conference Monday.
Starting Monday, banking hours in Bacolod and other localities in Negros Occidental have been shortened to only 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. until further notice.
According to the resolution, the member-banks are also implementing the “no mask, no entry” policy “as a way to mitigate exposure to the virus.”
As such, “(A)ll bank employees and clients are required to wear masks to be granted entry into the bank premises” and “shall temporarily take off masks as part of security protocol by bank guards prior to entry.”
Wearing of makeshift masks are allowed “in the light of the shortage of medical-grade face masks in the country”, the organization added. (with a report from PNA/PN)
