Negrense Zubiri extends self-quarantine to 21 days

MANILA – Negrense senator Juan Miguel Zubiri, who tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) last week, has decided to extend his self-quarantine period.

The senator, who wails from Kabankalan City in Negros Occidental, said in a statement on March 27 that he opted to lengthen his self-quarantine to 21 days just to make sure that he is free of the virus.

“I am on my 16th day of isolation (on March 27) but I have decided to extend it to 21 days just to be absolutely sure that I no longer have any symptoms,” Zubiri said.

He added the he is now feeling better. The last times he experienced symptoms of the COVID-19 were on March 11 and 12. 

Zubiri was the first Philippine senator to have tested positive for the COVID-19. He is required to undergo two more tests with negative results to be deemed as a recovered patient.

His fellow Senators Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III and Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara also tested positive for the virus earlier this week./PN
