ILOILO City – Three players from the Santa Clarita International School Primes are currently under the radar of the reigning National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) juniors’ basketball champion San Beda University Red Cubs.
Primes head coach Rodel Camacho said that Red Cubs team manager Jorvi Co recently inquired about the availability of the six-foot-five center Rogelle Alvaladejo, Michael Jose Jayme and EJ Abale.
According to Camacho, the three were recommended by Ilonggo sportsman Rodolfo Go Villaruz to the Red Cubs, which is currently on a massive revamp following the graduation of Yukien Andrada, Rhayyan Amsali, Justine Sanchez, and Tony Ynot.
“They were invited by San Beda to join their practice in Manila. If not for this coronavirus disease 2019, they should have been in Manila by now,” Camacho told Panay News.
“As a coach, of course I am proud that their talents were recognized by San Beda. And knowing San Beda, they will surely take care of these three players not just in basketball but also on their academics,” he added.
If ever Alvaladejo, Jayme and Abale will complete their move to the Red Cubs, they will be joining the growing list of the Primes recruited to play in Manila.
John Bryan Sajonia is currently in Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws’ Team B, while Mark Jimenez was part of the FEU Baby Tamaraws that finished as runner-up in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines juniors’ basketball.
Franc Steven Tono is also set to make his debut with the Colegio de San Juan de Letran Squires in the upcoming NCAA juniors’ basketball, while Ralph Bajon has committed to play for the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals in the NCAA seniors’ division./PN
