Kalibo, Malay towns nab 91 curfew violators

KALIBO, Aklan – Ninety-one curfew violators were arrested here and in Malay town following the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine in this province in a bid to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019.

Local government units in Aklan placed an 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew to encourage its residents to remain indoors as one of the precautionary measures against the spread of the virus.

Authorities here nabbed 70 curfew violators from March 18 to March 29, a data from the Kalibo municipal police station showed.

On the other hand, the Malay municipal police station recorded 21 persons found around the streets of mainland Malay and in the world-famous Boracay Island during curfew hours.

The police stations have filed cases for resistance and disobedience against the said violators.

Malay chief of police, Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Pablito urged the cooperation of the public in preventing the transmission of the COVID-19.

This province, which has 600,000 residents, has closed its borders. People are barred from entering or leaving the province after three Aklanons were confirmed positive for the COVID-19 on March 27.(With a report from Akean Forum/PN)
