SAN JOSE, Antique – Frontliners in this province were provided with food assistance by a group of employers as appreciation and support in their fight against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The United Provincial Government Employees of Antique (UPGEA) and the Antique Provincial Government Employees Multi-Purpose Cooperative gave out biscuits, noodles, energy drunk, juice and more to the frontliners.
“Last March 30, we gave foodstuff to the personnel of the Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital (ASMGH), Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, and the capitol guards, who are still performing their duties despite the threat of COVID-19,” UPGEA president Ma. Lourdes Fortaleza said on April 1.
Integrated provincial health officer Dr. Ric Noel Naciongayo, for his part, has been appealing assistance for the frontliners.
“I am appealing to anyone concerned to extend assistance to our frontliners as our way of appreciating their commitment to work,” he said.
He added that nurses working in the ASMGH have requested a temporary shelter due to the lack of public transport in the province, especially that the provincial government extended the enhanced community quarantine until April 14.(With a report from PNA/PN)
