SAN JOSE, Antique – This province remains free from the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) after its person under investigation (PUI) from Belison town, who died on March 27, tested negative for it, the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) said.
Antique IPHO chief Dr. Ric Noel Naciongayo cited the PUI’s laboratory test results, which they have received afternoon of March 31.
The PUI – 29-year-old male – was confined at the Antique Medical Center (AMC) in this capital town due to severe pneumonia.
“The AMC management will soon come up with its own press statement about this case,” Naciongayo said.
Meanwhile, the IPHO chief reported that as of April 1, this province still has 77 persons under monitoring (PUMs) after the other 378 completed their mandatory 14-day home quarantine. The ones that have completed the said quarantine rule were issued with medical certificates by their respective municipality health offices.
Naciongayo added: “There are still eight PUIs under hospital admission, while 26 PUIs are still under home quarantine.”
Local health authorities in this province have been closely monitoring the PUIs and PUMS.
In the previous weeks, this province experienced a surge in the number of PUMs because Antiqueños from Manila and other parts of the country went back home.
“We had to monitor the PUMs because of their travel history,” Naciongayo said, adding that close monitoring is necessary so they could be given immediate medical management once they manifest symptoms like of the COVID-19.(With a report from PNA/PN)
