SAN JOSE, Antique – In a much higher bid to suppress the spread of coronavirus disease 2019, wearing of face masks in public places in this province is compulsory based on Executive Order 40 issued by Gov. Rhodora Cadiao.

During the Antique Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) press conference, IATF spokesperson and Provincial Health Office chief Dr. Ric Noel Naciongyao said that the guideline is part of the response in stopping the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 in Antique.

According to Naciongayo, Antiqueños may opt to use improvised masks since surgical masks – worn by health workers – are already lacking.

“We can do improvised masks. Washable masks are more practical, available and cheaper. We can use them during ordinary times,” Naciongayo said.

He also expressed his gratitude to the private and public sectors in Antique and in this region for their donations of personal protective equipment to frontliners.

Meanwhile, Antique lone district representative Loren Legarda urged the provincial government here to institute a “No mask, No going out of the house” policy.

Legarda stressed: “Lahat ng lalabas kailangan mandatory na naka-mask maski na maaliwalas tayo kesa sa Metro Manila. Importante ay may mask lahat basta yayapak sa labas ng opisina or ng bahay.

She also asked the public to maintain six to eight feet gap from each other in practicing social distancing.(With a report from PIA/PN)
