ILOILO City – Fire broke out at a two-storey apartment building in Barangay Luna, Jaro district.
According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the blaze – which hit the apartment owned by Martin Jud Baylen – started around 11:15 a.m. on Monday.
Prior to the incident, residents told arson investigators they heard an explosion. Minutes later, thick, black smoke engulfed the unit rented by Ma. Cathrine Avenido.
Firefighters declared a “fire out” an hour later. There were no reported casualties.
Personnel of the BFP have yet to determine the cause and origin of the blaze as of this writing./PN
