SAN JOSE, Antique – Gov. Rhodora Cadiao said the Antique Inter-Agency for COVID-19 and the League of Municipalities in the Philippines will meet today to discuss the guidelines which are to be implemented in this province once its two types of community quarantine ends on May 15.
“Antique will no longer implement the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) and the general community quarantine (GCQ) after May 15 since our COVID-19 cases are now manageable,” said Cadiao during the Antique Inter-Agency for COVID-19 press conference on May 12.
Only the towns of Pandan, Caluya and Sebaste are under ECQ.
“I am proposing that the curfew and liquor ban will be continued. These were proven effective in curbing the spread of COVID-19,”she added.
On the other hand, border checkpoints in this province which are located in Hamtic and Pandan towns will be retained.
“The mandatory wearing of face mask and social distancing will also be continued,” the governor said.
According to Cadiao, this province being considered a “low risk” area for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases is due to the cooperation of the Antiqueños.
The Antiqueños heeded the provincial government’s call to stay at home in bid to suppress the spread of the virus.
Cadiao said that in this province, only the towns of Caluya and Pandan have confirmed COVID-19 cases. Out of the 17, six have already recovered as of May 12, report from the Antique Provincial Health Office said.(With a report from PNA/PN)
