ILOILO City – Fire totally gutted an abandoned house in Barangay Cuartero, Jaro district.
Yesterday’s blaze started at around 11 a.m. Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) firefighters augmented by volunteer fire brigades placed it under control after over half an hour.
A “fire out,” however, was declared at around 12 p.m. after a mopping up operation had been completed.
The house was reportedly made of light materials and owned by 80-year-old Teresita Siquenza who is now based in Oton, Iloilo.
The estimated cost of damage reached at P165,000. The cause and origin of the fire were still not available as of this writing./PN
