Lindores Abbey Rapid: Daniil Dubov, Liren Ding complete semifinals cast

Liren Ding and Daniil Dubov scored contrasting victories over their respective opponents during their deciding quarterfinal matches to advance to the semifinals round of the ongoing Lindores Abbey Rapid Challenge which is being played on the chess24.com playing server.

It took hard labor once again but luck was on the side of Ding who came from behind to oust compatriot Yangyi Yu, 3-2, in Armageddon. As luck would have it, Yu allowed Ding to escape from a winning position in Game 1, won Game 2 and then played rather recklessly in Game 3 to give Ding the point that led to the Armageddon finish which Ding won by drawing with the black pieces.
Dubov, on the other hand, simply crushed Sergey Karjakin, 3-0, to breeze through to the semis.

So now, the semifinal knockout pairings will be Magnus Carlsen versus Hikaru Nakamura and Ding against Dubov. The winners will then square off for the championship.
