BACOLOD City – A home-bound police officer almost failed to make it home alive after unidentified gunmen yesterday morning fired upon his car in Barangay Estefania.
Police Staff Sergeant Miguel Perez survived the attempt on his life and escaped with a lone gunshot wound on his left shoulder.
The 43-year-old Perez was a resident of Country Homes Phase 3 in the said village. He is currently assigned at the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office.
Police investigation revealed Perez was on his way home on board a Toyota Wigo when an undetermined number of suspects hidden behind the bushes opened fire.
Bacolod City Police Office spokesperson, Police Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico, said Perez sustained a gunshot wound on his left shoulder and was rushed to a hospital.
Police investigators conducted “hot pursuit” operations against the suspects, who fled after the incident. They have yet to establish the motive in the shooting as well./PN
