SAN JOSE, Antique – The “Libre Uli Antique” program, a joint undertaking of Antique lone district representative Loren Legarda and Gov. Rhodora Cadiao brought home a total of 525 Antiqueños who were stranded in Metro Manila and other parts in Luzon as of June 11.
The first batch of stranded Antiqueños – composed of students, displaced workers and construction workers – were repatriated on June 7. They were transported from the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) via Jasper Jean Bus to Batangas Port and then boarded a FastCat vessel to Culasi port in Culasi town.
It was the office of Legarda that facilitated the transport of the repatriates from PITX to Batangas Port, while the office of Cadiao welcomed the resident upon arrival at the Culasi port.
The provincial government and the office of Legarda are still facilitating additional trips to ensure remaining stranded Antiqueños will also be repatriated in the soonest possible time.(With a report from PIA/PN)
