MANILA – Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) star Calvin Abueva of the Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters admitted receiving an offer to serve as reinforcement in Japan’s B. League but is not entertaining it so far.
Abueva shared in an interview with Spin.ph over the weekend he is not yet prompted to accept the role despite being indefinitely suspended in the PBA.
“May alok ako.
According to the former PBA Rookie of the Year awardee, he is not closing his doors on playing overseas but has set his primary objectives straight.
The report about Abueva’s offer came just days after Ilonggo Ferdinand “Thirdy” Ravena announced he will serve as reinforcement for B.League team San-En NeoPhoenix.
Abueva revealed it was not the first time for him receiving offers to play overseas as he was also contacted by different Asian teams before he was drafted second overall by Alaska in 2012.
“May maraming mga alok sa akin dati. Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Thailand, at iba-iba. Pero hindi ko nga ‘yun pinansin kasi that time (kasi) gusto ko maglaro sa PBA. ‘Yun ‘yung dream ko kahit nung simula pa lang,” Abueva said./PN
